Connecting to Turing

Turing is a Computer Science server that we will be using in CS130 to place all of our work. As soon as you log off of the local machines, your files may be erased from the computer you were working on. You must always remember to log off of these computers before you leave the lab as people will have access to your stuff if you forget. They can and have in the past deleted files of people who stayed logged in!!!

Connect to turing as follows:

  1. Open 'My Network Places' on the desktop
  2. Double click on 'Add Network Place'
  3. In the textbox type: \\turing.cs.pacificu.edu\students and click next.
  4. When you are prompted for a name and password, type in your PUNet Id as your user name (i.e. khoj0332) and your Pacific ID number (7 digits) as your password. Click next.
  5. When prompted to name this network place, just type in Turing in the textbox and click finish.

This will display a list of folders. You will find a folder with your PU Net ID listed, and this is where you will store your files. You can store any material related to CS130/230 here, and there is no limit on the size.
